The Shadows were crucial to the development of British rock , of course they backed Sir Cliff but were also responsible for some of the best instrumental music of the 50s and 60 s. Their instrumentals are nothing short of extraordinary at the hands of bassist Jet Harris, drummer Tony Meehan, Bruce Welch and of course Hank Marvin whose style would influence numerous future guitarists including Dire Straits Mark Knopfler.
