THE BLACK KEYS DEBUT MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SONG “GO”
Today, The Black Keys have debuted the latest music video for their new single “Go”, from the forthcoming album, Let’s Rock. Cinema-esque, movie-style music videos with elaborately unexpected and wildly entertaining storylines have become a staple for the Grammy-winning duo (with the exception of “Lonely Boy” – a bona fide slice of simplistic genius) and their latest offering is definitely no exception!
The “Go” music video, directed by Bryan Schlam, drops us in the midst of Dan Auerbach and Pat Carney enduring a Some Kind of Monster style intervention with a corporate therapist who's pulling out all stops to end to the duo’s five-year estrangement. Competitive stubbornness and contractual obligations land the blues-rocking duo in “next level of mediation” – a hippie commune/spiritual re-alignment camp – where they manage to find … enlightenment … of sorts. With references to hallucinogenics, selling out, psychotherapy and a little yoga thrown in for good measure - it’s just the brand of tongue in cheek, left of centre humour we've come to know and love The Black Keys for.
Pat Carney said: “It was great making this video with Bryan, partially because it was filmed at the very type of place it is making fun of.”
Dan Auerbach jokes: “The video was fun, but we still haven’t spoken.”
The Black Keys made history this week when their song "Lo/Hi", the first single from Let’s Rock, topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs, Adult Alternative Songs, Rock Airplay, and the Alternative Songs charts, making it the first time any song has reached #1 on all four charts simultaneously.
Let’s Rock was tracked live and produced by Auerbach and Carney at Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville. "Go" is the third single from the band's ninth studio album and sees a return to the straightforward rock stylings of the duo’s early days. The full LP will be released on June 28th.
